Downloading Events to your Personal Calendar

The use of the Cornell Calendar allows you to subscribe to events of interest and monitor them in your personal Google, iCal or Outlook calendar.

There are two ways to subscribe to events, the first is to select individual events which you enter into a personal calendar on events.cornell.edu.  Those events can then be viewed in your personal calendar and will be updated each time you open your calendar application.

To Search Through Individual Events and Subscribe to Them:

  1. Go to www.events.cornell.edu
  2. In the search box, enter terms relevant to your event (ie:  physics colloquium, lassp seminar)
  3. Click on the “I’m Going” box next to each event you wish to download
  4. Click on “My Calendar” near the top of the page, that should bring you to a list of the events you have decided to go to
  5. On the right side of the page, scroll down until you see “Subscribe.”  Click on the option you would like (rss feed, Outlook/iCal, Google Calendar)
  6. Follow the prompts from there (you may have to select Outlook/iCal from a list of available applications on your computer as the current default application seems to be a web program called 30 Days)
  7. For Outlook users, these events will be placed into their own calendar in Microsoft Outlook which you will have to select in order to view them.  (If you prefer having these events merged into your current Outlook calendar, the events must be exported out of Outlook and imported back in to your personal calendar.  The now extraneous calendar of events that was created in Outlook can be deleted.)

To Download a Batch of Events to your Calendar:

  1. Go to www.events.cornell.edu
  2. In the Search box, enter Physics
  3. Click on View All Events (this will bring up Physics Colloquium, LEPP  and LASSP Seminars)
  4. Scroll down on the page until you see the option to Subscribe (look on the right of the screen under Filtering)
  5. Select your subscription preference and follow the instructions
  6. Please note that downloading a batch of events will not add them to your events.cornell.edu calendar and these events will not be checked for updates
